Ancient Thamizh Post 1
Ancient Thamizh- The Faculty of Harappan Symbols and Scripts
Recapitulation
Iyaaruappan
is the name of Lord Siva. The symbols and scripts found in Harappan seals
describes about Lord Siva. This proves that Lord Siva worship prevailed in
Harappan society. The name “Harappan” might have arrived from the Thamizh
name “Iyaarappan”.
According
to Thamizh dictionary, “Sii” is Mother Goddess and “Si” is Lord
Siva. These two letters as symbol appears in Harappa seal. One of the largest
seal K-99 – 4064/8796-01) discovered from Harappan region appears with
sixteen letter word, reading from right to left as “Paraa Meni Udaiyan
Arulaasi San(am) Ittaththingu.”. The meaning of this word is “The people /
human born in this place is based on the wishes and bestowing / blessing of the
highest form of a body/ shape”
The Mayamata (Chapter 36, verses
36.43b – 46 a) describes sixteen sculptures of Lord Siva. Among these names
only a few are observed in the form of symbols in HSS such as Duriyaadeethan,
Pinaagapaani and Pitchaadanan.
Duriyaadeetham
is one of the five Yoga states. The archaeological evidence found in a cave
shelter located in Kizhvalai in Villupuram
district of Tamil Nadu, he Duriyaadeetham is symbolized with vertical line
(fifth state) and four horizontal lines (Four states) placed one above the
other.
The
symbol of six spokes wheel is appearing in many Harappan seals. The six spokes
within a circle is the symbol of ‘Causation of Time’. It is to
represent the “The Causation Law” which says that all the six
duties of actions (Karamas) should be completed by every human being
during his predetermined period of life.
There
are strong evidences to prove that Harappan Seals and Scripts are written in
ancient Thamizh. According to Dr. Thamizhagan, a prominent Tamil scholar and
also a historical researcher, gives the description of two Thamizh letters “Pa”
and “Im”. Surprisingly, similar shapes of these two letters appear in
Harappan seals.
Sir John
Marshall identified a Seal M-304 as ‘Pashupathi’, actually it reads as “Pasu
itta pathi yogan”. The word “Pashupathi” appears in Thamizh
poems of ‘Panniruthirumurai’.
Pitchaadanan
is one form of Lord Siva worshiped in Thamizh Nadu. This appears in many
Harappan seals, to name a few Seal K-20A, H-27A, H-160 A, H-189A, M-301A, M-330
A & B etc.
Harappan
seals M-1951 A & B has inscription depicting the “Ashtaanga Yoga”
which is one of the eight limbed yogams preached by Thamizh saint Pathanjali
many thousand years back.
Seals M-478
A&B, M-479 A&B, M-480A&B describe about a musical instrument called
“Yaazh” and greatness of “Mother Goddess Durgai”. Seals M-38 and
M-626 are speak about “Veerasaiva sects”. Seal H-180 A&B emphasize
about “hospitality and others”. The seals M-312 and Bannawali 335 give
evidence that “Bull leaping” existed in Harappa.
All
the above tells that like our ancient Thamizh people, Harppans are literate,
spiritual, and knowledgeable in Astronomy, Astrology, Geometry and also masters
in codifying the information in the form of symbols.
This
book is the first stepping stone to decode the Harappan symbols and scripts and
also to fulfill the world’s hunger for knowledge about Harappan civilization.
